Why you need laser die cutting machine for lables?

Hongguan culture

Laser die cutting has become a viable finishing option for many converters, especially when small-batch digital printing is prevalent.

Laser die cutting has two main components: scanning head and laser source. The scan head or galvanometer has a set of mirrors that use cutting information to track the desired cut shape. The mirror is positioned accordingly to redirect the light around the cutting surface, using a single scan head will provide higher quality cuts. However, some converters may use two scan heads to accommodate software limitations or to keep up with faster speeds.

When utilizing laser diecutting, the goal is to run as fast as the digital printer is capable of running. The flexibility of the laser allows difficult cuts and tight tolerances. The laser is famous because it can cut complex and tricky patterns, which are difficult to cut with traditional rotary die cutting machines. It is also prototype-friendly and can be quickly turned around. Laser cutting does not require hard tools, so this is ideal if you want to create prototypes quickly. Then, you can invest in a more durable rotary mold.

The purchase cost of rotating molds may be lower, but they will eventually become dull and require grinding and replacement. The laser will last longer. This technology is very suitable for short-term operation. No mold is required, all cutting parameters are directly downloaded to the machine using our unique  software, enabling the manufacturer to reverse the job immediately. No need to wait for pre-press or mold delivery. Laser cutting is also suitable for longer runs because it can cut label shapes and sizes that cannot be cut with traditional molds, including through cutting.

Laser die cutting has other benefits. Mold costs are almost eliminated because many companies will invest between 70,000 and 100,000 US dollars in molds. Lasers can also save time. Usually, a semi-rotating machine takes 7 to 12 minutes to convert,It takes up to five minutes on the laser. There are some cuts-if you have a lot of complex cuts inside the laser-you need to make test cuts in them. If it is a material that you have never used before, or has a lot of internal cuts or sharp corners, you need to perform some tests to make sure your cutting depth is good.
