Laser Micro-Perforation on PVB Interlayer Film for Laminated Glass

Coptics Laser

This process uses a high-speed CO₂ laser system equipped with a 210-mm F-Theta scan lens to create ultra-fine micro-perforations on 5-micron PVB film. The film width reaches 1.8 meters, requiring stable multi-head synchronization and high-precision web control.

With a 0.15 mm micro-hole diameter and 3 mm pitch, the laser delivers consistent perforation quality at a production speed of 5 meters per minute.

This
micro-perforation technology enables controlled ventilation and bonding behavior inside laminated safety glass, improving the lamination efficiency and reducing bubble defects during the autoclave process.

Key advantages:

  • High accuracy in hole size and spacing

  • Clean edges with minimal thermal effect

  • Suitable for large-width materials (1.8 m)

  • Stable continuous roll-to-roll production

  • Improves laminated-glass quality by enhancing air-release efficiency

This process is commonly used in high-performance laminated glass production, including automotive windshields and architectural safety glass.
